Preston is a licensed CPA with more than 20 years of experience. He started his career with Ernst & Young in Salt Lake City, Utah and ultimately found his way to Gilbert, Arizona where he spent ten years working as International Controller for Iridium Communications, managing the public company's foreign subsidiaries, corporate accounting team, and the consolidation process.

Preston specializes in tax and assurance services, and has a strong background in business advisory consultation, mergers and acquisitions, partnership dissolutions, and outsourced CFO services. Preston received his BS in Accounting from Utah State University, and has an MBA from Arizona State University. He has taught numerous CPA preparation courses over the years for Becker Professional Education and has served on the Board of Directors for several companies in the Phoenix area.

Tess, a Colorado native joined the Abacus team in 2024 and brings years of experience in the small business community. She has obtained an Associate’s degree in Business and Management/Administration with a certification in Accounting Fundamentals from Red Rocks Community College. With the experience in working in several types of accounting firms, Tess will be contributing her best attributes to Abacus with her attention to detail, great organization skills, positive attitude and always helps others to succeed with their tasks and goals.

In her spare time, Tess operates her own small business in dog training where her passion for dogs comes to life. She also enjoys hobbies in the arts such as going to museums, the theatre, and creating art herself. Most of all, Tess enjoys her time with her family and friends as well as spending time at her favorite dance studio where she either learns choreographed hip-hip routines or hangs upside down with many diverse kinds of Aerial apparatus such as Silks and Lyra.

Emily and her husband have three children, a dog, and a cat. Outside of work, she enjoys spending time outdoors, baking, and staying busy watching her kids play competitive basketball. Holidays are her favorite, especially when everyone gets together. Any time spent with her family is time well spent.

Misty was born in a small town in New Mexico and grew up farming and ranching. She graduated high school at 16 and enlisted in the military. After her discharge, she changed majors from Paleontology to Accounting and started working with the Bureau of Land Management as a water rights and land deeds clerk.

From there she was offered a job in county government that sparked her interest in governmental accounting and auditing. She has worked in the accounting industry for 20 years gathering knowledge of different companies and procedures. The only thing that stays the same is that everything changes!
